January 20 - Daily Report

Injury RTC/Impaired Driving - Around 9:55pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Mullet Bay Road and Echo Lane in St. George’s involving two cars. It appears that one vehicle was traveling along Mullet Bay Road while the other was traveling along Echo Lane when they collided at the junction. The drivers of both cars were not injured; however the passenger of one of the cars, a 37 year old Warwick woman, complained of back pain. One of the drivers, a 46 year old Devonshire man, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained after failing the alco-analyser test.

Sudden Death of the Deputy Governor’s Wife

Around 8:40pm on Wednesday, January 19th 2011 Police attended a report of a sudden death at a Devonshire residence. The deceased has been identified as 42 year old Melissa Arkley, wife of Deputy Governor David Arkley. There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. An autopsy will be performed in due course.

Imprisonment & Substantial Fine for Violently Resisting Arrest, Drug Offences

24 year old Kenneth Tucker-Thompson appeared in Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 17th 2011 and pled guilty to four charges.

  • Violently Resisting Arrest.
  • Possession of Cannabis in an increased penalty zone.
  • Possession of Cannabis Resin with intent to supply in an increased penalty zone.
  • Possession of Ecstasy (MDMA) with intent to supply.

January 19 - Daily Report

Disturbance - Around 3:15pm on Tuesday, Police responded to a reported disturbance at Victoria Park in Pembroke. As a result, three young men were arrested in connection with the incident and subsequently released on Police bail. Inquiries into this matter are ongoing.

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Quincy Brangman Sentenced to 25 Years Imprisonment for Attempted Murder

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. Antoine Daniels, Serious Crime & Intelligence Divisions - The Bermuda Police Service takes this opportunity to acknowledge the substantial sentence handed down today in the Supreme Court to Mr. Quincy Brangman. Mr. Brangman was convicted of attempting to murder a 24 year old resident in Sandys Parish, during the early morning hours of February 13th, 2010. The victim was shot at point-blank range and although seriously injured has recovered well from his physical injuries and has cooperated with the police throughout the case. This cooperation has led to the sentence handed down today.

January 17 - Daily Report

Injury RTC - Around 2:30am on Monday, Police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Middle Road and Scenic Heights Pass in Southampton. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling along Middle Road when the rider, a 20 year old Devonshire woman, lost control. The rider and her pillion passenger, an 18 year old Sandys parish man, were injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The motorcycle received damage to multiple areas. Inquiries are underway.
