Damage Only RTC - Around 11:30pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision at the junction of Middle Road and Store Hill in Smith's parish. It appears that the car was traveling along Middle Road when the driver, a 31 year old Smith's parish man, lost control and collided with a tree. The driver of the car was uninjured; however the car received moderate front end damage. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Police and first responders attended a medical emergency at Scott's Hill Road in Sandys a few minutes after 11 this morning. Upon police arrival it was ascertained that a 20 year old Sandys man was in a non-responsive state. The Sandys man was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was certified dead by a hospital physician. No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified. Foul play is not suspected.
Police responded to a road traffic collision which occurred on Monday, December 27th around 2:32am at the junction of Harbour Road and Manse Road in Paget. It appears that a car with three male occupants collided with a wall. Two of the three were injured; one of the injured has been flown overseas for further medical treatment, the other received superficial cuts and bruises. However, the driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst impaired. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Robbery - At 10:17pm on Friday December 24th a victim reported that a man wielding what appeared to be a bladed article entered a business on St. John's Road in Pembroke and made demands of money. The suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash; however no one was injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Burglary - Around 2:25am on Friday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Mount Langton Crescent, Pembroke residence. It appears that unknown subjects gained entry into the home while the complainants were inside. The unknown culprits demanded a large amount of money and jewelry and made good their escape. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Text Scam - Over the past several days the Bermuda Police Service Financial Crime Unit has received hundreds of calls and e-mails from Bermuda residents who have all received a promotion text message from Nokia.
The text message, allegedly from a ‘Nokia representative’, tells recipients that they have been selected as a prize winner, in the ‘Nokia end of year mobile promo’ to celebrate Nokia’s 144th anniversary.
Significant Drug Seizure - On Monday the 13th December 2010, the United States Coast Guard intercepted a 34 foot Bermuda owned and registered sloop in international waters in the Caribbean, as a result of a joint operation between RCC Bermuda, H.M. Customs Bermuda, Bermuda Police Service and other law enforcement agencies in the USA. The vessel had sailed from Bermuda on the 16th November with a crew of three Bermudians onboard at which time its stated destination was the Caribbean. At the time of its interception it appeared to have been leaving the Caribbean area.
