Arrest - The Bermuda Police Service can confirm that a 43 year old Sandys parish man is currently in Police custody following an incident that occurred around 10am Thursday on North Shore Road in Devonshire near Loyal Hill Pass. Inquiries into this matter are ongoing.

Alvone Maybury Sentencing

Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro, Officer In Charge of the Serious Crime Unit – The Bermuda Police Service would again like to acknowledge the sentence of the courts today in the matter regarding Mr. Alvone Maybury. Mr. Maybury was unanimously convicted by a jury of discharging a firearm in a busy city street, in the lead up to Christmas last year.

Disturbance/Alleged Burglary

Around 10am on Thursday, Police responded to a report of a disturbance on North Shore Road in Devonshire in the vicinity of Loyal Hill Pass. Details about what occurred are unclear at this time; however it is alleged that the victim, a 43 year old Sandys parish man, was discovered attempting to burglarize an area home. The Sandys parish man was apparently injured by members of the public as he tried to flee the scene on foot and has been taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

November 4 - Daily Report

Injury RTC - At 9:45pm on Wednesday, Police and first responders attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Pembroke near Princess Estate Road involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that both vehicles were traveling along North Shore Road when they collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 26 year old Pembroke man, was injured. His injuries are not considered serious and he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The driver of the car, a 49 year old Devonshire woman, was not injured. The motorcycle was extensively damaged while the car received moderate damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

November 3 - Daily Report

Injury RTC - Around 4:10pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Rural Drive in Paget. It appears that an unattended truck parked in the area rolled downhill into a house. The truck driver, a 29 year old Sandys parish man, received a minor leg injury after returning to the vehicle and attempting to stop it rolling downhill. The truck was damaged as well as the Rural Drive property. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Recent Firearm Incidents

Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro, Officer In Charge of the Serious Crime Unit – The Serious Crime Unit continues its investigations into the shooting incident at White Hill Field (Middle Road, Sandys parish) on Monday evening. The 19 year old victim remains in the hospital receiving treatment for his injuries which at this time remain non-life threatening.

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.
