No One Hurt in Sanitation Truck Crash in Hamilton Parish Saturday

It has been confirmed that no one was hurt when a sanitation truck crashed through a wall, bringing down a utility pole on to a home in the North Shore Road, Cottage Hill Road Hamilton parish area around 6:25am Saturday, June 1st.

However, the sanitation truck, the utility pole, the home and the wall were all damaged in the single vehicle crash.

At first it was believed that two utility poles were damaged – however it was later clarified that it was only one utility pole.

Second Burglary Within Two Weeks at Vera P. Card in St. George’s

Around 4am Friday, May 24th police officers responded to a reported burglary at the Vera P. Card store on Water Street in St. George’s.

It appears that three suspects wearing dark coloured hooded tops gained entry into the store and stole a quantity of jewellery before making good their escape on foot.

Worker Hurt in Reported Industrial Accident in the City of Hamilton [Updated]

Around 8:45am Sunday, May 19th an industrial accident was reported in the City of Hamilton.

It appears that a male worker was refuelling a crane in the Church Street, Washington Lane area when some of the fuel spilled and somehow ignited.

Apparently the fire was extinguished just prior to the arrival of the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service.

Reported Single Vehicle Motorcycle Crash at North Round-A-Bout [Updated]

Around 4:20pm Sunday, May 12th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle motorcycle crash at the north round-a-bout near Trimingham Road in Paget.

Details are limited at this time.

However, early information suggests that the rider involved, believed to be a 52 year old Smith’s parish man, was traveling out of the City of Hamilton when he made contact with the north round-a-bout and then struck a wall – sustaining suspected head injuries.

Official Report Made, 55 Year Old Man Arrested After Viral Video

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm that the woman in the car who was apparently assaulted by a well-known male member of our community on a pedal cycle – captured in a video which went viral on social media last week – has made an official report regarding the incident.

The 55 year old man involved was later arrested and the necessary next steps are being taken.

Two Men Arrested After Reported Disturbance at BAA Saturday Night

Around 10pm Saturday, April 20th a police officer was conducting a liquor licence check at the Bermuda Athletic Association (BAA) on Woodlands Road in Pembroke when a scuffle occurred between a group of men at the front of the clubhouse.

Other officers promptly attended the premises to assist in defusing the situation.

Two men, said to be 31 and 24 years old, were arrested in connection with the incident.

Upcoming Road Sobriety Checkpoints: April 19th – 21st

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that the next series of road sobriety checkpoints (as specified in the Official Gazette Notice Monday, April 8th) will be conducted starting this Friday (Good Friday), April 19th.

The checkpoints will be in effect in Hamilton parish, Devonshire, Pembroke, Paget, Warwick and Southampton on Friday, April 19th, Saturday, April 20th and Sunday, April 21st.

Confirmed Firearms Incident, Khyber Heights Warwick: No Reported Injuries

Around 3:05pm today, [Sunday April 7th] police attended the Khyber Heights Warwick area after receiving several reports of gunshots being heard by area residents.

On arrival it was ascertained that a firearm had been discharged, however there are no reports of injuries.

Detectives and forensic officers are currently processing the scene and an investigation has commenced.

Reported Assault of 63 Year Old Man in St. George’s, 2 Men Arrested [Updated]

Around 12:45pm today (February 17th) police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported assault in the Railway Trail, Mullet Bay Road St. George’s area.

Details are limited at this time. However, initial information suggests that a 63 year old man was assaulted by three other men brandishing bladed articles.

Apparently the 63 year old man sustained injuries to his mouth.

Appreciation Expressed for Community Meeting on Noisy Kite Flying

As a result of numerous complaints by members of the public regarding the loud noise from kites being flown around the island – which in some cases have led to physical altercations – the Western Community Action Team convened a community meeting at Bright Temple AME Church on Friday, February 8th from 6:30pm until 8:30pm to allow all concerned to express their views, share some suggestions and identify solutions.
