Sudden Death – Alshante Brangman

The autopsy of 23 year old Alshante Brangman is now complete and the forensic pathologist has determined that her death is not suspicious.

As a result, the 28 year old Sandys parish man that was in Police custody assisting with inquiries into the matter has been formally released.

Therefore there is no further Police action required. The Bermuda Police Service again extends sincere condolences to the Brangman family on the untimely passing of their loved one.

Sudden Death - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 55 year old Peter Mitchell of Devonshire. Mr. Mitchell was found in an unresponsive state inside his Tee Street, Devonshire home by a family member around 9:15am Friday and subsequently pronounced dead by an on call physician at the scene. Autopsy results are pending; however, his death is not believed to be suspicious. The Bermuda Police Service extends sincere condolences to the family & friends of Mr. Mitchell.

Sudden Death

Around 10:40am today, Police received a report of a sudden death in the Verdmont Valley Close, Smith's parish area. Officers attended the scene a short time later. The body of the victim, believed to be a 38 year old Smith's parish man, was pronounced dead by an on call physician at the scene at 12:05pm. It appears that the body had been there for some time before being discovered by a member of the public. No further information will be released until the next of kin have been notified.

Injury RTC/Impaired Driving - Around 11:45pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the junction with Barkers Hill. EMTs from the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service also attended the scene. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear; however it appears that the victim, a 47 year old St. George’s man, was riding a motorcycle at the time. The St. George’s man sustained serious facial injuries and was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

The investigation into the circumstances of 23 year old Alshante Brangman’s death is ongoing by detectives from the Serious Crime Unit. A 28 year old Sandys parish man remains in custody assisting Police with their inquiries. Whilst there is a person in custody, the investigation and any subsequent conclusion(s) as to the cause(s) of her death will be predicated on the evidence in the matter.

The Bermuda Police Service is currently awaiting the forensic pathologist’s report.

March 4 - Daily Report

Burglary - At 6:45pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Barrack Hill, St. George’s residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 8am and 6:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a black 48” Toshiba flat screen TV, a Sony PlayStation 3 video game system, an Apple I-Pod Nano and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
