Preparing for Hurricane Joaquin – Being ready and staying safe…

The Executive members of the Emergency Measures Organization held a meeting at 12 noon today to discuss the potential impact of Hurricane ‎’Joaquin’ on Bermuda, and assess Government’s and other relevant agencies’ preparedness. The overall situation will be reassessed following the 12 noon weather advisory tomorrow Saturday 3rd October 2015.

Microsoft Scam

Once again the Bermuda Police Service renewing its appeal to the public to remain vigilant regarding phone calls, e-mails and other correspondence from unknown persons that attempt to obtain personal information or other sensitive data.

One common scam involves unknown callers offering to help residents with alleged glitches reportedly affecting their home computers. These calls are believed to originate overseas, with the fraudulent callers often claiming to represent the ‘Microsoft Windows operating system.’

When such callers are challenged, they often become more insistent and confrontational. It is strongly recommended that any similar unsolicited communication be ignored.

Reported Bomb Threat at Whitney Institute Middle School [Updated]

At 8:04am today (Monday, June 1st) first responders attended a report of a burglary that took place at the Whitney Institute Middle School.

Upon police arrival it was ascertained that someone made a threat of a bomb on the premises, resulting in the school and the police putting their protocols into place.

Reported Stolen Vehicle [Located]

Around 5:10am on Tuesday, May 26th police received a report of a stolen vehicle.

It appears that a few minutes earlier, a red Hyundai Tucson bearing license plate number 41222 was removed from outside Prime’s Place on Victoria Street in Pembroke.

Traffic Advisory: Reported Serious Collision in Southampton [Update]

Around 8am Friday, May 22nd a reported serious collision occurred on Middle Road in Southampton, apparently near the junction with Industrial Park Road, involving a truck and a motorcycle.

Details are limited at this time; however it appears that the motorcyclist involved sustained serious injuries and has been taken to hospital via ambulance for treatment.

Reported Overturned Truck in Paget [Updated]

Around 3:50pm on Friday, April 24th police officers were dispatched to a reported single vehicle collision on Berry Hill Road in Paget, just west of the entrance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Details are sketchy at this time; however it appears that a heavy truck has overturned. However, there were no reported injuries.

Traffic Diversion on South Road in Southampton [Updated]

Motorists are advised that traffic diversions are currently in effect and delays should be expected on South Road in Southampton near the junction with Church Road after a tractor trailer apparently pulled down power lines in the area.

Therefore it is recommended that the motoring public avoid the South Road, Church Road Southampton vicinity until further notice.

Traffic Diversion: Collision on East Broadway [Updated]

At approximately 3:37pm today March 26th , first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place on East Broadway across from the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

It appears that a 34 year old Paget man was travelling east on said road when it appears that he lost control of his motorcycle and veered into the other lane and collided with a car traveling in the same direction.
