Inquiries Into Recent Armed Robbery, Happy Valley Lane Shooting Continue

At around 4:30 pm on Tuesday 18th February, police executed a warrant at a Field View Lane Pembroke residence, where a number of items were seized and a 23 year-old man arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into the January 29th robbery at Gold Standard in the Washington Mall, in the City of Hamilton.

At around 5:25pm on the same date police executed a firearms warrant at a residence on Factory Lane in Pembroke.

Two Men Arrested After Gospel Lane, Pembroke Disturbance

At around 12:21 am today, Thursday 13th February, police received a report of a disturbance at a Gospel Lane, Pembroke residence.

Upon arrival police confirmed there was an altercation involving two men, each in possession a bladed article.

Both men were subsequently arrested, with one of them having to be conveyed to hospital via ambulance for treatment to injuries sustained to his right hand during the altercation.

Sudden Death in Pembroke [Updated]

Around 8:20 this morning (Wednesday, February 12th) officers on inquiries in the Parsons Road, Pembroke area were alerted to a foul smell coming from an abandoned building.

Upon investigation they discovered the partially decomposed body of a black male.

An on call doctor attended the location a short time later and certified death.

Ballistic Testing Shows No New Firearms Used in Recent Firearm Incidents

As the investigations into the recent firearms incidents continue, the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) would like to thank the community for their willingness to assist by providing information which has proven invaluable to our efforts.

To that end, as we seek to provide reassurance, the BPS can confirm that ballistic testing has revealed that the firearms used in these recent incidents, have revealed that these are not new weapons and have been linked to previous matters which have resulted in the arrest of individuals for suspected involvement in those crimes.

20 Year Old Male Motorcyclist Hospitalised After Collision With Truck

Around 11:10am Tuesday, February 4th police, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service as well as ambulance personnel were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision at the junction of Middle Road and Verdmont Road in Smith’s parish.

It appears that a truck was being driven east along Middle Road and a motorcyclist was traveling in the opposite direction along Middle Road when the collision occurred, as the truck driver turned on to Verdmont Road.

Witness Appeal: Assault on Off Duty Corrections Officer

At about 6am today, Monday 3rd February, an off-duty Corrections Officer was out jogging on South Road in Southampton.

He was approached by persons on a motorcycle, who struck him in the head and rode off.

The 40 year-old male victim is being treated at King Edward hospital for a laceration to his head.

The Bermuda Police Service Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating the matter and wishes to speak with anyone who may have any information, or may have seen this incident.

Female Motorcyclist Struck by Car Hospitalised: Male Driver Arrested

Around 12:50am Friday, January 31st police and fellow first responders attended a reported two vehicle collision on North Shore Road in Devonshire.

It appears that a 30 year old Hamilton parish woman motorcyclist was traveling east along North Shore Road when a car driven out of the parking lot of Robinson Bay Park struck her.

Three Motorists Arrested on Suspicion of Impaired Driving

Three motorists were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving from the evening of Friday, January 24th until the evening of Sunday, January 26th, with road sobriety checkpoints conducted in seven parishes (Hamilton parish, Smith’s parish, Devonshire, Pembroke, Paget, Warwick and Southampton) during this past weekend.

While there are no road sobriety checkpoints scheduled for this coming weekend, members of the public are urged not to drive or ride under the influence as police officers conducting their regular patrols will be on the lookout for any offences, including impaired driving.

Police Actively Searching Various Locations for 14 Year Old Destiny Winters [Located]

Police officers are actively searching various locations for 14 year old Destiny Winters today (Friday, January 24th), after she left her designated Government Care Facility without permission around 9:15pm Thursday, January 23rd.

So far the teen has not been located. However, efforts to confirm Destiny’s whereabouts and wellbeing are ongoing.

Destiny is described as brown complexioned, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall of medium build, weighing around 130 pounds with shoulder length curly hair.

She was last seen wearing a black jacket, army green pants, white socks and black slippers and is known to frequent locations in Pembroke including Fentons Drive, Parsons Road, St. Augustine Hill, Middletown, One Way Deepdale and The Glebe Road.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 14 year old Destiny Winters is urged to immediately call police on 295-0011 or her designated Government Care Facility on 292-3699.

The public is reminded that harbouring a juvenile is an offence punishable under the law.

Update: Saturday, January 25th - Destiny Winters has been located and safely returned.

Police Focus Efforts on Locating 14 Year Old Destiny Winters [Located]

Police officers continued their search for 14 year old Destiny Winters today (Wednesday, January 22nd), 12 days after she left her designated Government Care Facility without permission on the evening of Friday, January 10th.

Tuesday night (January 21st) police officers – following leads regarding her possible whereabouts – checked a location in Warwick, but Destiny was not located.

Earlier this morning (Wednesday, January 22nd) police officers also checked a location in Sandys parish, to no avail.

However, efforts to confirm Destiny’s whereabouts and wellbeing are ongoing.

The Bermuda Police Service thanks the media and members of the public that have supported police efforts to locate the teen, and reiterates the importance of finding the CedarBridge Academy student promptly.

As a reminder, Destiny is described as brown complexioned, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing around 130 pounds with her hair said to be dyed black, short and curly.

She was last seen wearing a black rain jacket, shorts as well as black Nike sneakers and is known to frequent locations in Pembroke including Fentons Drive, Parsons Road, St. Augustine Hill, Middletown, One Way Deepdale and The Glebe Road.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 14 year old Destiny Winters is urged to immediately call police on 295-0011 or her designated Government Care Facility on 292-3699.

Update: 14 year old Destiny Winters has been located and returned to the care of the Department of Child and Family Services.
