Public Warned About Sharing Defamatory Messages on Social Media

Around 7:40am Tuesday, October 22nd a report of willful damage was made to police regarding offensive graffiti spray painted on the wall of a Harbour Road, Paget residence near Lower Ferry.

The offensive graffiti has since been painted over, but not before images of the defamatory message were circulated on social media.

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise members of the public not to further circulate the defamatory message – or any similar message.

Motorists Once Again Advised to Be Vigilant for Motorcycle Bandit

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of a few recent incidents where a male motorcyclist has confronted car drivers claiming that they were in collision with his motorcycle – or alternatively crossed into his path, forcing him off the road – causing damage to his motorcycle.

He then demands that the ‘offending’ motorist give him money to repair the alleged damage to his motorcycle. This same activity occurred approximately one year ago.

Male Motorcyclist & Male 50cc Scooter Rider Collide in Southampton

Around 12:10am Sunday, October 13th police, fire and ambulance personnel were dispatched to a reported serious collision on Middle Road in Southampton near Hawthorn Lane.

It appears that a male motorcyclist and a male 50cc scooter rider traveling in opposite directions along Middle Road collided in the vicinity of the Wok Express.

Motorcyclist Hurt in Collision With Truck, Wall on North Shore Road

Around 7:50am Thursday, October 10th police officers and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported collision on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the junction with Cable Hill.

It appears that a motorcyclist was traveling west on North Shore Road behind a truck being driven in the same direction when the truck driver attempted to make a right turn and the vehicles collided, in the vicinity of the former Clayhouse Inn.

Confirmed: Calls from 441-405-9999 for a Legitimate Local Survey

The Bermuda Police Service welcomes the clarification from Total Research Associates Limited that their legitimate phone survey of Bermuda residents utilised the telephone number 441-405-9999.

In an abundance of caution, an advisory was sent out on Monday, October 7th regarding the possible fraudulent use of 441-405-9999, after several calls were received from concerned members of the public on Saturday, October 5th.

Residents Warned to Remain Vigilant for Suspected Telephone Scam [Updated]

The Bermuda Police Service is once again reminding residents to remain vigilant regarding phone calls, e-mails and other correspondence from unknown persons that attempt to obtain money, personal information and other sensitive data.

On Saturday the 5th of October police received multiple calls from members of the public about the possible fraudulent use of 441-405-9999.

Witness Appeal: Cashew City Road, St. George’s Firearm Incident

Detectives continue to investigate a confirmed firearm incident that occurred around 10:25pm Thursday, October 3rd in the Cashew City Road, St. George’s area where a 64 year old man was shot in the shoulder.

At last check this morning (October 4th) he was listed in stable condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Witnesses or members of the public with relevant information – particularly area residents who may have seen several motorcycles in the vicinity before or after the incident – are urged to call Detective Inspector Kenten Trott on 717-2345 as soon as possible.

Inquiries Continue: Escape of 29 Year Old Male Westgate Inmate

A 29 year old male Westgate Correctional Facility inmate that escaped Monday afternoon and was apprehended in the South Road, Horseshoe Road, Southampton area a short time later has been transferred from police custody back to the Westgate Correctional Facility.

Inquiries regarding the circumstances of his escape continue and a court appearance is anticipated at a later date.

Two Male Motorcyclists Injured in Southampton Collision

Around 7:30am Monday, September 30th a reported two motorcycle collision occurred on Harbour View Drive in Southampton, on the Fairmont Southampton resort property.

It appears that the two riders involved – said to be a 44 year old Warwick man and a 22 year old Sandys parish man – were traveling in opposite directions at the time.

Latest Van Fire in Pembroke Under Investigation, No Injuries Reported

Around 12:05am Friday, September 27th police and Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel responded to a reported van fire on Fentons Drive in Pembroke near the junction with Parsons Road.

The white Nissan van involved was left parked and unattended.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and the scene was processed.
