Ballistic Testing Shows No New Firearms Used in Recent Firearm Incidents

Mon, 2020-02-10

As the investigations into the recent firearms incidents continue, the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) would like to thank the community for their willingness to assist by providing information which has proven invaluable to our efforts.

To that end, as we seek to provide reassurance, the BPS can confirm that ballistic testing has revealed that the firearms used in these recent incidents, have revealed that these are not new weapons and have been linked to previous matters which have resulted in the arrest of individuals for suspected involvement in those crimes.

Of course, the ultimate objective is to get those firearms off the streets.

We continue to work diligently toward achieving this through the execution of warrants based upon intelligence gathered with the assistance of you, the public.

We continue to urge anyone with information on any criminal activity to continue to contact us on the main police number, 295-0011 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline, 800-8477.

The execution of these warrants and increased high visibility patrols have also resulted in an abatement of criminal activity with only two minor incidents reported this past weekend.

Again, we thank you for your continued support and assistance, as we work together to make Bermuda safer.
