Robbery

At 8:30pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported robbery in the City Hall car park in the City of Hamilton. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 23 year old Hamilton parish man, who stated that an unknown man approached him and brandished a weapon before taking the Hamilton parish man’s wallet and BlackBerry cellular phone. The offender then made good his escape on foot headed towards Cedar Avenue. The victim was not injured. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’ tall wearing a dark coloured hooded top and dark coloured ‘track’ pants. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Press Conference - Anti-Social Behaviour

ADDRESS BY MR. GEORGE JACKSON, COMMISSIONER OF POLICE - Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen, I have called this Press Conference to address growing concerns in the Community and the Media at the levels of Violence and Gun Crime on our Streets. Among a significant group of predominantly young men we are seeing increasing Gang Style behaviour. Some are trying to copy the behaviours of Criminal Gangs in other countries. Everything from the way they dress, the crimes they commit and their weapons – including firearms, they are prepared to use, shows that they are choosing a life outside the law.

Burglary - At 6:50pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Parsonage Lane, Sandy’s parish residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 8:40am and 6:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. However, it appears that nothing was taken. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 6:50pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Parsonage Lane, Sandy’s parish residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 8:40am and 6:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. However, it appears that nothing was taken. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 5:40pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Stovell Bay Road, Pembroke residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 10am and 5:10pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his apartment while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a small quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Witness Appeal - Fatal RTC & Road Traffic Advisory

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for any witnesses to the fatal road traffic collision which occurred around 12:50am Tuesday on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Longford Road, which claimed the life of 29 year old Kevin Mooney (the son of former Chief Inspector Charles Mooney). Anyone with any information about this collision or who may have seen the victim prior to it is encouraged to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.
