Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 46 year old Kenneth Noel DeSilva of St. George’s on the evening of Friday, March 13th 2009. An investigation into the circumstances of Mr. DeSilva’s death is ongoing and Police have been in regular contact with his family during this process. A forensic pathologist will travel to Bermuda to conduct an autopsy in the near future. Any person who has any information regarding the death of Mr. DeSilva is encouraged to contact Police on 299-4315.

Injury RTC - At 10:55am on Thursday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Palmetto Road and Parsons Lane in Devonshire involving two trucks. It appears that both trucks were traveling east on Palmetto Road when the first truck indicated its intention to turn on to Parsons Lane and stopped. The second truck was unable to stop in time and collided with the rear of the first truck. The driver of the first truck, a 54 year old Devonshire man, sustained neck and back injuries; he was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the second truck, a 56 year old Pembroke man, was not injured.

At 10:55am on Thursday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Palmetto Road and Parsons Lane in Devonshire involving two trucks. Around 8:50am on Thursday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on South Road in Warwick near the junction with Marley Beach Close. It appears that a car was traveling west on South Road when the driver, a 23 year old Southampton woman, lost control and collided with an embankment, causing the vehicle to flip over several times. The Southampton woman was not injured; however the car was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Injury RTC - At 9:40pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Palmetto Road and Border Lane North in Pembroke involving a truck and a motorcycle. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling west on Palmetto Road and the truck was exiting Border Lane North when the vehicles collided. The rider of the cycle, a 28 year old Pembroke man, was rushed to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of a head injury, broken right arm & right leg as well as internal injuries. He is currently in critical but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

At 9:40pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Palmetto Road and Border Lane North in Pembroke involving a truck and a motorcycle. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling west on Palmetto Road and the truck was exiting Border Lane North when the vehicles collided. The rider of the cycle, a 28 year old Pembroke man, was rushed to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of a head injury, broken right arm & right leg as well as internal injuries. He is currently in critical but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. The driver of the truck, a 39 year old Sandy’s parish man, was not injured. The motorcycle received extensive front end damage while the truck received minor damage to its right side.
