Burglary

Around 6:45 this morning, Police attended a reported burglary at a Cobbs Hill Road, Warwick residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 11pm on Monday and 6:30am on Tuesday, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home. The culprit stole a Compaq laptop computer and a wallet containing a quantity of cash and personal items.

Injury RTC

Around 1:55am on Sunday, Police received a report of a road traffic collision resulting in injury on Somerset Road in Sandys parish involving two cars. It appears that a silver Subaru was traveling east on Somerset Road and a blue Hyundai was traveling in the opposite direction when the Subaru attempted to overtake a taxi and collided with the Hyundai.

Police Week 2007 – ‘Commissioner for a Day’ Essay Competition

During 2007 the Bermuda Police Service is celebrating 128 years of service to the Bermudian community. To commemorate the Service’s ongoing commitment to the local community, Police Week, a week long series of Police related events, will take place from Saturday, October 27th – Saturday, November 3rd 2007. The goal of Police Week is to unify the community and the Police through interaction at various levels, from an essay competition entitled ‘Commissioner for a Day’ in the island’s schools to social events.

The Bermuda Police Service has received five reports of thefts from unattended vehicles parked in the Palmetto Road/Old Military Road, Devonshire area. It appears that the cars were parked in the area Saturday evening while the occupants went to the Bermuda Music Festival at the National Sports Centre.

At 4pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Rec-View Hill, Devonshire residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 6:45am and 3:45pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole two watches. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Recruit Foundation Course #69 Passing Out Ceremony

On Thursday, October 4th 2007, a Passing Out Ceremony was held for Bermuda Police Service Recruit Foundation Course #69. Twelve recruits completed the course and have now joined the Service as Police officers. They are: Constable Shirneil Furbert, Constable Anton Gilbert, Constable Ian Morrell, Constable Lesa Stovell, Constable Donovan Sweet, Constable Rajiv Bailey, Constable Kieran Bennett, Constable Vanessa Furbert, Constable Juan Looby, Constable Sandip Roy, Constable Kenten Trott and Constable Teshae Trott.

At 5:50 this morning, Police attended a reported burglary at a St. Georges guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants, who are visitors to the island. The couple stated that sometime between midnight and 5am today, an unknown culprit gained entry into their cottage. The culprit stole a quantity of jewelry, cash and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Vehicle Fire

At 4:05 this morning, Police received a report of a vehicle on fire at Bakery Lane in Pembroke. Officers arrived at the scene a short time later and observed three vehicles ablaze. The two cars and an auxiliary cycle were extensively damaged as a result. The Bermuda Fire Service attended and extinguished the fire. There were no reported injuries.
