The Bermuda Police Service has recently received reports of suspected firearm activity in the St. Monica’s Road, Pembroke area and increased violence involving young men associated with the ‘gang culture.’ In light of these reports, we wish to reassure the public that the Police are aware of these activities and that we will be responding appropriately.

Around 3:45 this morning, Police received a report of an attempted robbery on Freeport Drive in Sandy’s parish. The victim, a 38 year old Sandy’s parish man who is employed at an area establishment, stated that he left work around 2:30am and proceeded to walk home.
On Saturday 5th January 2008 an American registered yacht was intercepted by US Coast Guard in the waters off The Bahamas. There were two males on board the vessel at the time, a US citizen who was the owner of the yacht and a 35 year old Bermudian Norman O’Donnell Rayner of Pembroke. A search of the yacht uncovered a shipment of cannabis weighing approximately one ton (one thousand kilogrammes).
