At today’s press conference highlighting the event Mr. Philip Butterfield, Chairman of the Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust, thanked the uniformed services for coming together to support such a worthy cause.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Mike Jackman noted that: “A number of sponsors have come forward so far to support this event, with Auto Solutions donating a car as a prize to any golfer participating in the tournament that scores a hole in one at the 17th hole.”

Officers responded to #31 The Glebe Road, where they found a 30 year old Pembroke male in an unresponsive state outside the residence, suffering from injuries believed to be from a gunshot wound.
The victim is Mr. Jonathan Dill of Pembroke Parish.
The family and friends of Mr. Dill have been assigned a Family Liaison Officer by the Bermuda Police Service to assist them during this difficult time.
Around 10:20pm on Monday, September 2nd police officers responded to reports of gunshots in the St. Monica’s Road, Glebe Road Pembroke area.
On arrival a 30 year old Pembroke man was found shot outside a residence in that area. The victim was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance where he was subsequently pronounced dead by an on call doctor.
No further information regarding the deceased will be given at this time until the next of kin is notified.

The September 5th Foundation, a registered charity, was formed to create an endowment fund to assist in the post-secondary education of the children whose parents and grand-parents were lost during the tragic events of Hurricane Fabian in 2003.
Bermuda police officers Stephen Symons, Nicole O’Connor, Station Duty Officer Gladys Saunders and civilian Manuel Pacheco, who was employed by the Corporation of Hamilton, tragically lost their lives on the Causeway at the height of the hurricane.
The Bermuda Police Service is noticing a persistent rise in commercial burglaries around the island as there were 3 in a 24 hour period, (properties on Laffan Street, Lover’s Lane in Paget and Parliament Street). Police responded to reports of gun shots fired in the area of Camp Hill in Southampton at 10:07pm and Deepdale in Pembroke at 10:45pm Friday, August 9th. Both incidents are confirmed firearm incidents with forensic evidence that supports the claims.
In both instances it does not appear that anyone was shot/injured. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen any person(s) on a motorcycle in either location acting suspiciously to contact police on 295-0011 or contact the confidential Crime Stoppers number on 800-8477.
First responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place between a truck and an auxiliary cycle around 5:35pm in the area of St David's Road and Bay Estates Road in St. George's.
It appears that a 17 year old St. George's male was traveling on that said road when the rider of the bike apparently attempted to overtake a bus and collided with a truck traveling in the opposite direction.

PC Shannon Lawrence won a bronze medal in the hill climb, a silver medal in the time trial and a gold medal in the criterium. In addition Sergeant Darren Glasford won a silver medal, also in the criterium and PC Dennis Joell won a bronze medal in the 200 metre race.
The Bermuda Police Service cycling team of Sergeant Clifford Roberts, Sergeant Darren Glasford, Sergeant Terry Thomas, PC Dennis Joell and PC Shannon Lawrence also competed in a tough 18 mile loop road race course, with PC Lawrence placing 5th in his age group; PC Joell placing 14th in his age group and Sergeants Glasford, Roberts and Thomas placing 11th, 20th and 25th respectively in their age group.
