Around 12:30am on Wednesday, December 11th police and Bermuda Radio received a report of a man in a marine vessel in distress in the waters off of North Shore and Black Watch Pass.
A maritime search for the vessel ensued and a debris field was established. Around 7:50am a man’s lifeless body was found, believed to be the missing sailor, who was apparently traveling with his two cats.
Police responded to a report of a road traffic collision that took place on Saturday night at 9:45pm on Poinciana Road in Devonshire. It appears that a 55 year old Pembroke man was traveling north on that said road when it appears that the Pembroke man lost control of his motorcycle and hit a wall.
The man was taken to the hospital where he is presently listed in critical condition. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen this collision to contact PC Milen Simons on 295-0011.
At approximately 5:15pm police responded to reports of gun shots being fired on Middle Road in Warwick. Upon police arrival it was ascertained that two men on a motorcycle discharged a firearm in the area of Middle Road behind the Money Shop, however no one was injured.
An active search for the suspects has commenced and the scene is being forensically processed.
Acting Superintendent Nicholas Pedro - 24 year old Julian Markus Washington appeared in Supreme Court today, charged with the murder of Stefan Burgess. Members of the public will recall that Mr. Burgess was shot and killed inside a Glebe Road residence in the evening hours of Sunday 8th January, 2012. Another victim was also shot & injured at the same location.
The charges follow a lengthy investigation by members of the Bermuda Police Serious Crime Unit. Washington pled ‘not guilty’ to the four charges put to him of:-
The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 24 year old Uthmani Talbot of Smith’s parish.
Mr. Talbot was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding apparently collided with a wall and a parked car on Harrington Sound Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Harrington Hundreds Road around 3:20am Saturday, November 30th.
He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance where he was later pronounced dead at 3:45am Saturday by an on call doctor.
Due to apparent roadwork in the Reid Street and Parliament Street area, motorists traveling into the City of Hamilton are advised to avoid that area and take alternate routes where possible.
In addition, those driving into the city should expect some delays until this roadwork is completed. The patience and cooperation of the motoring public is greatly appreciated regarding this matter.
At 3:20am first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision on Harrington Sound Road 400 metres east of Harrington Sound Primary.
It appears that a 24 year old Smith's man was traveling east on that said road when he lost control of his motorcycle and appears to have collided into a wall and parked car. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The Commissioner of Police has consulted with His Excellency the Governor regarding recent public speculation about past sexual assaults that may have taken place within the ranks of the Bermuda Regiment. The Commissioner has agreed that for a variety of reasons, potential victims might have decided not to assist with previous investigations but might be willing to come forward now.
It is with deep sadness that Commissioner of Police Mr. Michael DeSilva reports the untimely death of our colleague and friend 55 year old Mr. John Hall. John joined us from Hempstead, Hertfordshire UK as a Crime Scene Investigator (Support Staff) in October 2011. He passed away at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital this morning.
First responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place at 7:26pm on Wednesday evening on South Road in Paget in front of Ice Queen. It appears that a car collided with a cycle at the entrance and this resulted in the motorcyclist and his passenger being taken to the hospital. The rider, a 50 year old man is being treated for what is believed to be leg and back injuries while the passenger and the driver of the car were uninjured.
