The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) operators have been inundated with callers seeking information on COVID regulations and guidelines.
The BPS wishes to remind the public the 911 number is for emergencies only.
The 211 number is for the reporting of crimes.

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of a video circulating showing officers effecting an arrest at a location in Pembroke.
The arrest took place after officers responded to reports of a COVID breach where an estimated 30 people were gathered in an enclosed premises, reportedly not wearing masks or practising social distancing.
Upon police arrival, several persons attempted to leave the scene, others were found hiding inside the premises.
One individual became aggressive and when warned about his actions became even more confrontational towards officers who attempted to arrest him.
Because of the subject’s aggressive behaviour, there was a use of force proportional to the situation faced by our officers.
Other party-goers began confronting our officers who moved to disperse them, warning that they too faced being arrested.
Our officers produced their tasers in an effort to get the group to comply.
At no time were tasers deployed, even as the officers were outnumbered and at risk. The video depicts only what happened after the arrest and not what led to it.
Bermuda Police Service Recruitment Drive Underway

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is currently recruiting, with interested candidates invited to apply for consideration as a Constable.
The BPS is looking for eligible individuals seeking a career in law enforcement, to represent the community, and assist in ‘Making Bermuda Safer.’
Applicants must have a Bermuda School Diploma (BSD) or equivalent and must be between the ages of 19 and 49 years old at the start of the contract.
Applicants must also be Bermudian, or the spouse of a Bermudian, and be in good physical and mental health.
Help Us Bring Jordan Outerbridge's Killers to Justice

Detective Superintendent Nicholas Pedro, Officer in Charge, Serious Crime Unit - "The Bermuda Police Service would like to recognise the important work done by the Gang Violence Reduction Team, who have assisted in quelling serious gang activity over the past several years, activity that many in the public will not be aware of.
The Serious Crime Unit is currently looking at all the evidence in the case, and regrettably, we are of the view that the cruel killing of Mr. Jordan Outerbridge, a loving husband and father, was gang related.
Whilst we do not hold the view that Mr. Outerbridge is or was affiliated with any gang, or gang activity, we are confident his killers were part of an organized and criminal gang.
Serious Collision Tuesday Night Not Linked to Jordan Outerbridge Murder

Detctive Superintendent Nicholas Pedro - "The Serious Crime Unit is continuing its investigations into the brutal murder of Mr. Jordan Outerbridge (pictured) on the Railway Trail, Warwick, on the night of Tuesday 6th April.
A full complement of detectives has been interviewing witnesses, and reviewing forensic & digital evidence in the wake of his death.
We are grateful to those who have had the courage to come forward so far, and still wish to speak to anyone who feels they can assist.
The investigation continues to prove challenging as we work to identify a possible motive for his death, and we are also examining the possibility that this may have been a case of mistaken identity.
This continues to be an incredibly difficult time for Mr. Outerbridge’s family and friends and we are continuing to support them through this tragic event.
We can also report that we have been able to exclude the road traffic collision that occurred in a similar time frame on Middle Road near the entrance to Belmont, as being linked to the shooting. We note that there has been a lot of social media chatter suggesting that these two events were connected, we have been able to negate this.
Appeal to Stop Circulating Photo Showing Aftermath of Serious Collision [Updated]

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is aware of an image circulating via social media showing the aftermath of a serious collision involving two motorcycles that occurred last night (Tuesday, April 6th) on Middle Road in Warwick, near the junction with Belmont Hills Drive – in the vicinity of the Belmont Hills golf course.
Initial information indicates that one of the male motorcyclists involved is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, while the other male motorcyclist received treatment at the hospital for less serious injuries.
At a 12 noon press conference today (Wednesday, April 7th) regarding the active investigation into the murder of 37-year-old Jordan Outerbridge, Detective Superintendent Nicholas Pedro confirmed that the circumstances of the Middle Road, Warwick collision are also being investigated – including the possibility that one of the individuals involved in the collision may be linked to the fatal shooting of Mr. Outerbridge. However, as was stated in the press conference, it is still early in both investigations and the potential link between the two incidents has not been confirmed at this time.
Apparently some on social media have suggested that one of the individuals shown in the image being circulated is the murder victim, Mr. Outerbridge. This is simply not true.
The BPS would urge members of the public not to further circulate the image of the serious collision aftermath and to refrain from speculation regarding the murder of 37-year-old Jordan Outerbridge – for the sake of his grieving family and loved ones.
Motorists & Boaters Reminded: Ensure Ample Travel Time to Make Curfew

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) continues to advise motorists and boaters that ample travel time should be allowed to safely get to their final destination before the start of curfew at 11pm.
In addition, to assist with protecting the safety of all road and water users, residents are urged not to speed in an effort to get to their intended destination ahead of curfew.
As a reminder, the current curfew is in effect from 11pm to 5am on land, with the boating curfew from 8pm to 5am.
Investigation Into the Murder of 37 Year Old Jordan Outerbridge [Updated]

Detective Superintendent Nicholas Pedro - "Around 10:34 p.m. on Tuesday 6th April, 2021, police & first responders attended the Railway Trail off Tribe Road #2, Warwick, following multiple reports of gun shots. [Watch press conference video].
On arrival, police found a 37-year-old male, we can now identify as Mr. Jordan Outerbridge, having suffered multiple gun-shot wounds to his body.
Resuscitation efforts by police & Emergency Medical Technicians were unsuccessful, and Mr. Outerbridge was declared dead at hospital.
Mr. Outerbridge leaves behind his loving wife, and a one-year-old son. He worked gainfully with LINK Bermuda.
37 Year Old Man Fatally Shot in Warwick [Updated]

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday 6th April 2021, police and EMTs were dispatched to a firearms incident in the area of Ord Road and Tribe Road #2, Warwick, after residents reported hearing multiple gunshots.
Upon arrival, officers found a 37-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Officers and EMTs immediately began life-saving measures at the scene and the victim was subsequently transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where sadly, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
No information on the identity of the victim will be provided until all next of kin have been notified.
Officers from the Forensic Support Unit processed the scene and an investigation into this matter has already begun.
Residents Advised to be Wary of Speed Camera Violations Scam E-mail

Once again the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is urging members of the public to remain vigilant regarding scams that attempt to obtain personal information or other sensitive data. In particular, local residents should be wary of a misleading e-mail currently in circulation that claims the recipient has been caught on a speed camera and is required to pay a fine.
