BPS Assisting JCF With Ronald Raynor Murder Investigation

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) can now confirm the death of Mr. Ronald Raynor and express our sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. Raynor was 55 years old; formerly of Pembroke Parish but was residing in Jamaica at the time of his death.

On March 28, 2017 the body of a deceased man was discovered in bushes in Hatfield Meadows, Coral Gardens, St. James, Jamaica and later identified as Mr. Raynor by the Jamaican Constabulary Force (JCF).

$64,600 Forfeiture Application Granted Under Proceeds of Crime Act

Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro, Organised & Economic Crime Department - In a hearing before the Wor. Archibald Warner in Magistrates' Court on Friday, 21st April 2017 a forfeiture application made by the Crown in respect of $64,600 was granted.

The court heard that Ugandan national Mr. Billy Odoch (pictured) entered Bermuda illegally in December 2013 on what is believed to be a false passport obtained by deception.

On 14th October, 2015, Odoch was charged in Magistrates' Court, and pleaded guilty to obtaining a United Kingdom passport by deception, and was sentenced to two years imprisonment.

Reported Serious Car Crash in Southampton [Updated]

Around 2am Sunday, April 16th‎ police and first responders were dispatched to a reported serious single vehicle car crash on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Granaway Heights Road.

Details are limited at this time. However it appears that the car involved struck a wall.

Reported Disturbance at St. David’s Cricket Club

Around 8:30pm Friday, April 14th (Good Friday) police and first responders were dispatched to a reported disturbance at St. David’s Cricket Club.

Police officers arrived a short time later but the individuals involved had already left the area.

An injured 18 year old St. George’s man believed to have been hurt in the incident was then located at the scene.

Renewed Appeal for Information: Suspicious Death of Jevon Daniels

Detective Sergeant Jason Smith (Serious Crime Unit) - On the 16th May 2016, Jevon Reid Daniels was 35 years old at the time he went missing.

Jevon's disappearance was brought to the attention of the police on the 21st May 2016, and a police investigation commenced into his disappearance which was and still is suspicious.

On Friday 17th June 2016, Jevon Daniels' body was found in bushes off of Ireland Island sports field commonly known as "Moresby Plain".

Public Requested to be Considerate When Flying Kites

Easter in Bermuda is warmly associated with the flying of kites, both the traditional and "artificial" variety. The season this year, however, has been punctuated by a sharp increase in public complaints about noisy and annoying kite flying.

There are a small number of people who constantly disturb and frustrate their neighbours by flying extremely loud kites in several neighbourhoods throughout Bermuda.

Policing Plans for Court Appearances

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) previously announced that summonses have been issued in relation to the protests at the House of Assembly on 2nd December 2016. The defendants in these cases will appear in Hamilton Magistrates' Court on the 5th, 7th, 10th and 12th April.

The BPS is aware that calls are being made from sectors of the community for members of the public to show support for the defendants by assembling at the Court. The police are putting plans in place in the event that large numbers of people attend on the days mentioned.

Cadet applicants:

must be between the ages of 16 and 21 years old at the start of the contract.

2. The BPS investigation into allegations of criminal conduct by some protestors.

3. The investigation into complaints by members of the public against police officers.

Suspicious Death of Bermudian Man in Jamaica

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is aware of the death of a Bermudian man in Jamaica under suspicious circumstances.

A BPS Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to the deceased's family to assist during this difficult time.

We are continuing to reach out to the Jamaican authorities for more information and to offer assistance as best we can.
