The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) mourns the death of Station Duty Officer Ms. Donna Roberts.
She passed away last Wednesday afternoon (January 16th) at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Roberts started with the BPS as a Traffic Warden on July 7th 1997 and after ten years was assigned as a Station Duty Officer, starting work in that role on September 4th 2007.
She also served with the Bermuda Reserve Police from 1997 until 2008.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Stephen Corbishley said: “It is with deep sadness that I learned of the death of our colleague, Station Duty Officer (SDO) Donna Roberts, at the age of 61.
Donna served with the BPS for over 20 years, and is fondly remembered for her pleasant manner, positive attitude, and highly active service both as a Traffic Warden and SDO.
Police responded to a report of an incident that took place on South Road in Paget 100 metres west of the entrance to Elbow Beach at 7:42pm today (Saturday).
It appears that a male driver of the car lost control of his vehicle resulting in the car going down an embankment by Coral Beach.
The driver and passenger were assisted out of the car by a member of the public and the driver, a 63 year old male was arrested for suspicion of driving whilst impaired.

Police and other first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place on North Shore Road near Trinity Church Road at 3:19pm.
It appears that a car hit a pedestrian resulting in the male victim being taken to the hospital with what appears to be head injuries.
The road has been cordoned off whilst the scene is being processed by the relevant police officers.
The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 40 year old Mr. Richardo Gibbs Hill and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Mr. Gibbs Hill was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding struck a wall along Harbour Road, Paget in the vicinity of Highwood Lane around 11:20pm Wednesday, January 16th.
First responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place on Harbour Road in Paget in the area of Highwood Lane at 11:21 pm Wednesday.
Details are still emerging but it appears that a male on a motorcycle was traveling on Harbour Road when he lost control of his cycle and collided with a wall.
The man was rushed to the hospital and he is being treated for serious injuries.
