Thirteenth Road Fatality for 2014

An 88 year old male pedestrian struck by a car around 10am today, Thursday December 4th in the Par-La-Ville Road, Serpentine Road Pembroke area has since died.

Following the collision the Pembroke man was initially admitted into the hospital in stable condition. However, he was subsequently pronounced dead at 2:47pm.

Confirmed Firearm Incident in Warwick: No Reported Injuries

The Bermuda Police Service responded to a report of a confirmed firearm incident that took place at around 5:30 pm in the area of Cedar Hill in Warwick and Tribe Road No. 6.

It appears that two males were traveling on a motorcycle when they discharged a firearm at a residence in the area. No one was injured and the two men then left on the motorcycle.

As of tomorrow Thursday, November 27th the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S. signifies the unofficial start to the holiday shopping season and we are all aware of the shopping frenzy that takes place around ‘Black Friday’ in Bermuda.

The Bermuda Police Service believes that it is important that the community and shoppers specifically do what it takes to keep themselves safe.

Reported Armed Robbery at Mr. Chicken in Southampton

The Bermuda Police Service responded to a report of an armed robbery that took place tonight (Tuesday) at 9:50pm at Mr. Chicken Restaurant located in the Heron Bay Plaza next to Marketplace in Southampton.   

It appears that a male, around 6'1" tall wearing dark clothing came into the restaurant, brandished what is believed to be a firearm and made demands of money while a second male stayed outside on a motorcycle. The first male was given an undisclosed amount of cash.

Man Charged With Sandys Parish Remembrance Day Firearm Incident

Acting Assistant Commissioner James Howard - Just over a week ago I stood in front of the media and public of Bermuda and made a pledge that the Bermuda Police Service would do everything in our power to bring the perpetrators of shootings that took place on Remembrance Day to justice.

To date, a 29 year old Sandys parish man has been placed before the courts and we are following up other significant lines of enquiry.

The inaugural Commissioner’s Vision Awards ceremony, sponsored by Bermuda Cablevision, was held at 6pm Wednesday, November 19th in the Berkeley Institute cafetorium to officially acknowledge a total of 150 students for their leadership qualities.

Scam Advisory: Fraudulent ‘Microsoft Windows Representatives’

Once again the Bermuda Police Service would like to remind members of the public to remain vigilant regarding phone calls, e-mails and other correspondence from unknown persons that attempt to obtain personal information or other sensitive data.

One common scam involves unknown callers offering to help residents with alleged glitches reportedly affecting their home computers.

Police Encourage Motorcycle Owners & Buyers to be Vigilant

Inspector Robert Cardwell, Officer in Charge of the Roads Policing Unit - The Bermuda Police Service continues to regularly record incidents where motorcycles are reported to have been ‘taken without the owner’s consent’ – referred to as TWOC.

To date there have been 728 such reports compared to 599 at the same time last year.

Cash Stolen From Laundrette in Sandys Parish

At 2:55pm today, police attended an incident that took place at Launderette in the plaza adjacent to The Market Place in Sandys parish. It appears that two individuals entered the premises, made demands of money and escaped with an unknown quantity of cash.

Police have now commenced an investigation into the incident and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen individuals in the area, particularly The Market Place, Dollar Depot area acting suspiciously, to contact police on 295-0011 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.

Three Arrested After Confirmed Firearm Incident in Mount Hill, Pembroke Area

Police responded to a report of a confirmed firearm incident that took place at 4:25pm in the Mount Hill, Pembroke area. It does not appear that anyone was injured and an investigation into this incident has commenced.

Three people were subsequently arrested in connection with this matter.

Police are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen persons acting suspiciously in the Mount Hill, Pembroke area.
