Thu, 2005-05-26

At 9:30am on Thursday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Paget guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who is a visitor to the island. He stated that sometime between 11pm on Wednesday and 7am on Thursday, an unknown culprit gained entry into his room. The culprit stole $150 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 12:25 this morning, Police arrested a 33 year old St. George’s man at the Bermuda International Airport for suspicion of importing a controlled drug. Investigations are ongoing.

Breaking & Entering

Wed, 2005-05-25

At 4:15pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Knapton Estates Road, Smith’s parish residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 12:40pm and 3:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home. The culprit stole several items of jewelry and a bottle of alcohol. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 4:10pm on Monday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Woodlands Road in Pembroke, near the junction with Euclid Avenue. It appears that a pedestrian was running across Woodlands Road when she was in collision with a truck traveling north. The pedestrian, an 8 year old Paget girl, was treated at KEMH for minor injuries (cuts & bruises) and released.

At 9:50 this morning, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Tee Street and Berry Hill Road in Devonshire involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that the car (a white Kia Pride) was exiting Tea Rose Lane when it was in collision with the motorcycle (which was overtaking a vehicle) traveling south on Tee Street.

Police are reporting a dramatic decrease in incidents of breaking and entering over the weekend with only 5 reported incidents. This can be attributed to a team of officers that were tasked with targeting some of the serial offenders that have been targeting homes and business in and around Bermuda. We are still reminding residents to lock and secure their dwellings at all times.

Police were on mobile patrol around 1:50am Saturday on North Shore Road in Devonshire, when officers came upon a driver of a car acting suspiciously. The car was stopped and officers noticed that two males were in the car. It was at that point the occupants of the car were searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Attempted Robbery

Around 11:25pm on Thursday, Police attended a report of an attempted robbery on Parsons Road in Pembroke. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 24 year old Pembroke man, who stated that around 11:15pm he was parking his motorcycle outside his Parsons Road residence when he was approached from behind by a man who gripped him by the hands and demanded money.

Around 10:55pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Cedar Hill in Warwick involving a pedestrian and a bus. Details about the incident are unclear; however, it appears the 47 year old Southampton man attempted to flag down the bus when it collided with his hand.

Around 12:15pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Garthowen Road, Devonshire residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 8:30am and 12 noon, someone gained entry into his home, stealing several items of jewelry and approximately U.S. $500 in cash.
