Police are investigating a road traffic collision that took place around 7:45pm on Friday, May 6, 2005 involving two Police vehicles (unmarked cars) and a motorcycle carrying two people, west of the entrance to A1 on Middle Road in Paget. The two Police vehicles were traveling west (emergency) and the motorcycle entered the westbound lane from a private entrance.

Lottery Scam

The Bermuda Police Service Fraud Unit is aware of a new lottery scam that is currently in circulation around the island. The letter, which appears to be from a European country, claims that the recipient has won a cash prize and must provide personal information (including copies of a passport and/or driver's license) as well as banking details in order to receive their winnings.

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for anyone who may have seen 59 year old Franklyn Belboda of Warwick or the vehicle he was traveling in, a grey Mitsubishi taxi license #T1810 in the last 48 hours, to contact Chief Inspector Andrew Boyce or Sergeant Robert Cardwell of the Serious Crime Unit on 299-4315 or the main Police number 295-0011.

Opening of New Bus Terminal

The new bus terminal will officially open for operation on Thursday. In the meantime, bus operators are making test runs through the terminal from Victoria Street to Church Street in the City of Hamilton. Washington Street is not a through way and should only be used by motorists doing business on the street. It should not be used as a shortcut from Victoria Street to Church Street.

The Bermuda Police Service wishes to inform local businesses of a current fraudulent practice that is being perpetrated by individuals from overseas. A local business has been faxed photocopies of credit cards accompanied by an overseas passport photo identification, with a request to purchase a high value item.

Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 53 year old Michael Eugene Smith of Pembroke. Mr. Smith was found in an unresponsive state at 6 this morning at a Hill Crescent, Pembroke residence and was pronounced dead a short time later. He was last seen alive at 1pm on Tuesday, December 20, 2005. Police are appealing for anyone who may have information on Mr.

Medical Emergency

At 1:40pm today, Police attended a report of a medical emergency on Church Street in Pembroke near the junction with Dismont Drive. On arrival a man was found in an unresponsive state, lying on the ground near the entrance of the temporary bus terminal. CPR was performed on the unresponsive man before he was rushed to KEMH via ambulance.

Damage Only RTC

At 8:10am on Tuesday, Police received a report of a damage only road traffic collision on Middle Road in Sandy's parish near the junction with Farmstead Lane. It appears that around 7:15am a white truck and a silver car were traveling west on Middle Road when a dark coloured motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction behind a bus overtook the bus, colliding with one of the truck's mirrors.
