Policing in Bermuda remains a partnership. Government House retains overall operational control but the Government of Bermuda is responsible (under delegated authority from the Governor) for police numbers, recruitment, training and equipment. The Commissioner of Police controls day to day policing operations within the resources available. The Bermuda Police Service is committed to serving the entire community in Bermuda equally. We take our responsibilities seriously and seek no political gain.

The Bermuda Police Service will be formally introducing the new PROMAT Video Identification process as an additional method of witnesses identifying a suspect as of Wednesday, August 1st. There are a total of 22,000 volunteer images on the system which includes some 470 local Bermudians. This will drastically improve the time taken to organize such a procedure and save Police resources in trying to organize a line-up parade.
