February 22 - Daily Report

Assault - Around 9:10pm on Sunday, Police received a report of an assault. It appears that the victim, a 31 year old St. George’s man, was attacked by a group of unknown men in the area of the Royal Artillery Association (RAA) in St. George’s. The victim sustained injuries to his head and was taken to the Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Centre for medical assistance before being taken to KEMH for further treatment. A 28 year old St. George’s man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Inquiries are underway.

Shooting on St. Monica’s Road

Around 6:45pm Sunday, Police received a report of gunshots in the St. Monica’s Road, Pembroke area. The victim, a 28 year old Pembroke man, sustained gun shot wounds to his body and was taken to KEMH for treatment.

February 21 - Weekend Report

Fire - Around 5am on Saturday, Police attended a reported fire at a Mount Hill Mews, Pembroke residence. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service was already at the scene dealing with the blaze. It appears that four apartments were extensively damaged as a result. The fire was eventually extinguished by Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel. There were no reported injuries. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

February 19 - Daily Report

Injury RTC - Around 8:45am on Thursday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Khyber Pass involving an auxiliary cycle and a pedestrian. It appears that the pedestrian, a 30 year old Warwick woman, was walking across the pedestrian crossing on Middle Road and the auxiliary cycle was traveling east on Middle Road when the collision occurred. The pedestrian sustained facial injuries as well as injuries to her left wrist and right knee. The auxiliary cycle rider, a 17 year old Hamilton parish woman, sustained lacerations to her right arm & leg. The auxiliary cycle received minor damage.

Injury RTC/Impaired Driving - At 1:55am today, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Knapton Hill in Smith’s parish near the junction with Harrington Hundreds Road. It appears that a car was traveling north on Knapton Hill when the driver, a 24 year old Smith’s parish woman, lost control and collided with a wall. The Smith’s parish woman was apparently injured; however the extent of her injuries is not clear. She was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained after failing the alco-analyser test. The car received extensive damage to its right side. The wall was also damaged.

Burglary - At 4:30pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Camp Road, Warwick residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 7:15am and 4:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a 42” Samsung flat screen TV, a Samsung home theatre system and a quantity of jewelry. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Reports of Men with Guns on Court Street

At 2:25pm today, Police responded to a report of men in possession of firearms in a parking lot on Court Street in Pembroke. This resulted in Police units converging on the location and a number of searches being carried out. As a result, three men are in custody assisting Police with this inquiry however, no firearms were recovered.

Witness Appeal - Shooting in Sandys parish

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the shooting that occurred around 2:15am Saturday in the Kitchener Close, Sandys parish area. As a result the victim, a 23 year old Sandys parish man, received gun shot wounds to his body. He is currently in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit at KEMH.

An investigation into the matter is ongoing by officers from the Serious Crime Unit under the direction of Chief Inspector Nick Pedro and a 31 year old Sandys parish man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
