Update – Mission Lane Pembroke Shooting

Superintendent Antoine Daniels, Officer In Charge of the Serious Crime Division - The Bermuda Police Service would like to provide a brief update regarding the shooting of a 27 year old man around 4am on Saturday 27th March 2010 on Mission Lane, Pembroke.

The victim remains in hospital in stable condition and although his injuries are described as serious they do not appear to be life threatening.

The Bermuda Police Service wishes to make a further appeal to the public for help in the investigation into the shooting of a 27 year old Pembroke man. At this time the Police will not release his name. He remains in hospital in a stable condition. His injuries although serious are not life threatening. It is known that he attended a nightclub in St. George’s during the evening of Friday 26th March until the early hours of Saturday 27th March 2010.

March 28 - Weekend Report

Injury RTC - At 9am on Saturday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Middle Road and Vesey Street in Devonshire involving a car an auxiliary cycle. It appears that the auxiliary cycle was traveling east on Middle Road and the car was exiting Vesey Street when the vehicles collided. The rider of the auxiliary cycle, a 16 year old young woman from Pembroke was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of pain as well as bruising to her shoulders and ribs. The driver of the car, a 28 year old Sandys parish man, was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Confirmed Firearm Incident

A few minutes after 4 this morning, Police responded to a report of gun shots being fired in the area of Mission Lane in Pembroke. Upon Police arrival it was ascertained that a 27 year old Pembroke man was taken to the hospital. He is listed in stable condition in the ICU and is being treated for gun shot wounds to his body.

Officers from the Serious Crime Unit have commenced an investigation and anyone with any information is asked to contact that unit on 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477.

Missing Juvenile – Rechai Reeve Young

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 15 year old Rechai Reeve Young. The Rechai Reeve Youngteenager was last seen in Devonshire at 9:25pm Friday, March 5th 2010 wearing black jeans, a black long sleeve thermal shirt, a white T-shirt, a black hat and black sneakers.

Injury RTC - Around 12:40pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported serious single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Khyber Pass. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling west on Middle Road when the rider, a 35 year old Smith’s parish man, lost control and collided with a wall. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of his injuries and is currently in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Injury RTC/Impaired Driving - At 1:30am today, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Palmetto Road and Roberts Avenue in Devonshire. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling west on Palmetto Road when the rider, a 31 year old Hamilton parish man, lost control at the junction. The Hamilton parish man sustained a laceration to his head; however he refused medical treatment from EMTs at the scene and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The motorcycle was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Burglary - Around 1:10pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Knapton Hill, Smith’s parish residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 10am and 12:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole three pairs of Nike sneakers. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained.
