Theft

At 3:45 this morning, Police received a report of a theft. The complainant, a 63 year old Warwick man (who is a taxi driver), stated that he was near the junction of Front Street and Parliament Street in the City of Hamilton around 3am when he was approached by a 31 year old Pembroke woman. The Pembroke woman (who is known to the complainant) asked the 63 year old for money, so he went to a nearby ATM machine and withdrew $30. Then he drove her to a remote location where they had a brief conversation. A short time later he dropped her off on Curving Avenue in Pembroke. However, as he left the area he discovered that $1,400 in cash was missing from his jacket pocket. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Assault

At 9pm on Wednesday, Police attended KEMH following a reported assault. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 21 year old Pembroke man, who stated that around 8:15pm he was in Casey's Cocktail Lounge on Queen Street in the City of Hamilton when he was involved in a scuffle with three men. The men punched and kicked him about the head and body before the 21 year old managed to escape by running out of the bar. The Pembroke man was treated at the hospital for cuts and abrasions to the face and body and released. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police also attended Casey's and spoke with the manager on duty who agreed to close the bar for the night. The patrons then left the area without incident.
