Assault

At 11am on Sunday, Police attended KEMH after a report of an assault. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 29 year old Hamilton parish man. He stated that around 1:15am that day he was at the bar of the Hamilton Parish Workman's Club when he was approached by the suspect, a 19 year old Hamilton parish man. The suspect is known to the victim. The suspect then grabbed a chain from the victim's neck and a struggle ensued, until the two men were eventually separated by other patrons. The suspect then made good his escape. Two rings were also taken from the victim during the struggle in which the 29 year old Hamilton parish man was head butted several times. The victim sustained a laceration to the head as a result and attended KEMH for treatment. While at the hospital medical examinations revealed that the 29 year old also sustained a neck injury. He was subsequently airlifted to the Lahey Clinic in Boston for further medical treatment. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact Detective Constable Taylor on 297-1122.

Robbery

At 1:15pm on Friday, Police received a report of a robbery. A short time later officers attended the residence of the victim, a 73 year old Devonshire man, who stated that around 1pm that day he was on Vesey Street in Devonshire near the Bermuda Equestrian Center when he was approached by an unknown man. The suspect and the victim had a brief conversation, but as the Devonshire man attempted to leave, the suspect held him by the neck and removed his wallet from his pants. The suspect then made good his escape on a red scooter type cycle traveling west on Vesey Street. The victim sustained abrasions to his elbows after falling to the ground when he was released from the suspect's grip. The wallet contained $100 in cash and personal items. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male with a round face, approximately 5'8" tall weighing around 200 pounds. He was wearing a dark coloured helmet without a visor and is believed to be in his early 20s. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 5 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 6 incidents of breaking and entering. There were also 23 damage only road traffic collisions and 7 road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
