Promotion to Superintendent

Superintendent Mike Jackman arrived from Barbados in 1982 and commenced his initial training. On completion of the 16 week course he was posted to the St. George's Police Station and worked there until 1985. He spent the next eight years working in the Traffic Department. He also had postings to the Community & Juvenile Services Department, and the Central and Western Parish Constable Units. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1995 and was the Chairman of the Bermuda Police Association from 1997 to 2000. In 2001, he was promoted to Inspector and was in charge of the Research, Development & Innovation Unit until April 2004 when he was promoted to Chief Inspector. This role involved working with the Commissioner on a number of projects including the Service's Strategic Plan 2002 - 2004. Since then Superintendent Jackman has been posted to the Recruiting & Training Department where he was responsible for the co-ordination of training across the Service as well as the Cadet and Junior Cadet programs.

In April 2005, Superintendent Jackman attended the Volunteer Visitor Program sponsored by the US Department of State and visited various youth organizations across the USA. Superintendent Jackman holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Policing and Police Studies from the University of Portsmouth and is currently enrolled in a Master of Science Program in Police Science and Management at the same university. Superintendent Jackman has also attended various training programs and conferences including completing Level One of the Senior Leadership Development Program at the Central Police Training & Development Authority (CENTREX) Bramshill, United Kingdom. Superintendent Jackman will be posted to the Narcotics Division as the Officer in Charge. He also has two sons.
