Serious Assault

Police responded to a report of a serious assault that occurred beside Cross Bay Beach, Sonesta Drive, Southampton sometime around 9:00pm on Tuesday 7th August 2007. It is believed there was a crowd of approximately twenty people in the area when the 18 year old victim was struck on the back of the neck with what is believed to be a machete. The strike caused a deep laceration; however, the victim managed to make his way to a nearby residence where the emergency services were alerted. The injuries are not life threatening and he is currently being treated on Perry Ward at KEMH.
