Injury RTC

At 10:50pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported serious single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Tribe Road #6. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling west on Middle Road when the rider, a 47 year old Hamilton parish man lost control, scraping along a wall and colliding with a utility pole. The victim was taken to KEMH for treatment of head injuries and is currently in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

Disturbance

At 11:25pm on Sunday, Police attended a disturbance on Middletown Road in Pembroke. It appears that a group of men arrived in the area on motorcycles and attacked individuals with machetes. As a result, a 17 year old Pembroke man was taken to KEMH via ambulance with serious wounds to his left arm and is currently in stable condition on a general ward. Although there was a large crowd present in the area, no one was willing to provide information about the incident. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Theft

Around 2:30pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a theft from an unattended vehicle parked at Horseshoe Bay beach in Southampton. The complainant, who is a visitor to the island, stated that sometime between 1:30pm and 1:50pm an unknown culprit gained entry into his rental cycle’s storage compartment. The culprit stole a Motorola cellular phone, a Swiss Army watch, a pair of Reebok sneakers and $50 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Police are reminding locals and visitors alike to avoid taking valuables or large amounts of money with them to the beach.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 11 people arrested for impaired driving and 2 incidents of breaking and entering. There were also 15 damage only road traffic collisions and 19 road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
