Robbery

Around 11:40 this morning, Police received a report of a robbery at Fort St. Catherine in St. George’s. It appears that the victims, a couple visiting the island believed to be in their 60s, were accosted by two unknown men brandishing bladed articles. The suspects took a camera, a wallet containing a quantity of cash and a gold chain before making good their escape on a motorcycle. The visiting couple was not injured. The suspects are described as two brown skinned males (one lighter than the other) approximately 5'10" tall, believed to be in their 20s; one wearing a red/maroon coloured hooded top and the other wearing a white/grey T-shirt. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.

The Bermuda Police Service has received several reports of robberies recently in various parishes around the island. Most of these incidents have occurred during the hours of darkness. We are advising the public to be vigilant when walking or riding alone, especially at night. We are also encouraging members of the public to avoid dark or dimly lit areas if at all possible when riding or walking alone at night and to avoid secluded places if possible during the daytime.
