‘Prolific’ Burglar Receives Three Year Prison Sentence - A 49 year old man with a criminal history was sentenced to three years imprisonment by Magistrate Archibald Warner after pleading guilty to a recent Paget burglary in Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. Dean O’Brien admitted to unlawfully entering the home and stealing money on Thursday, May 26th; however police officers arrested him a short time later. In addition to the three year prison term, Magistrate Warner stipulated that O’Brien will also serve two years of probation.

Man Remanded On Sexual Assault Charge

Also on Tuesday, a 29 year old man appeared in Magistrates’ Court to face charges of interfering with two women on Saturday, May 28th. The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with sexually assaulting a woman causing her bodily harm and intruding on the privacy of a woman causing her alarm. He did not have to enter a plea to the first charge as it is indictable and can only be tried in the Supreme Court. He pleaded not guilty to the second charge. The 29 year old, represented by defence lawyer Marc Daniels, was remanded into custody by Magistrate Archibald Warner until June 14th.

Man Charged With Possession of ‘Stun Gun’

27 year old Earl Basden was charged with being in possession of a ‘stun gun’ in Magistrates’ Court Tuesday morning. He pleaded not guilty and Magistrate Archibald Warner granted him $5,000 bail plus a surety. His trial is expected to start in September.

Injury RTC at North Shore Road & Store Hill

Around 4:30pm on Tuesday, Police responded to a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of North Shore Road and Store Hill in Smith’s parish involving a truck and a motorcycle. It appears that both vehicles were traveling along North Shore Road when they collided at the junction. The motorcycle rider, a 20 year old Pembroke man, was not injured however his pillion passenger, also a 20 year old man, received a leg injury and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. His injury is not believed to be life threatening. The truck driver was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
