Assault

Around 1:40 this morning, Police attended a reported assault on North Shore Road in Smith's parish, near the junction with Tamarisk Hill. On arrival officers observed the victim, a 46 year old St. George's man, lying in a driveway near the roadside being treated by paramedics. It appears that the St. George's man was attacked by two men on a motorcycle, who beat him about the head and body, then made good their escape. He was found by two members of the public who stopped to offer assistance. The victim sustained facial injuries (believed to be a broken jaw) and injuries to his back, shoulder and leg. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact the St. George's Criminal Investigation Unit on 297-1122.

Burglary

At 11am on Monday, Police attended a reported burglary at the Department of Education's Information Technology Department on Glebe Road in Pembroke. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 6pm on Saturday and 12 noon on Sunday, an unknown culprit or culprits gained entry into the premises while it was unoccupied. The culprit(s) stole three projectors, two Gateway tablet laptop computers, four Dell laptop computers, a Sony Handycam camcorder and several Microsoft CDs. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

The Bermuda Police Service will hold a press conference today at 1pm in the Police Media Relations office in Prospect, Devonshire regarding the investigation into the sudden death of 32 year old Marcus Gibbings under suspicious circumstances. All media are invited to attend.
