Impaired Driving Arrest - Around 9:30pm on Sunday, Police responded to a report of an impaired motorist traveling along Middle Road in Southampton. As a result the rider of a rental cycle, a 51 year old Warwick man, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and subsequently detained after failing the alco-analyser test. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.

Between 7pm Friday, February 25th and 7am Monday, February 28th there were six people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving (inclusive of the above arrest).

Weekend Police Patrols

Police officers conducted mobile patrols in various areas of the island throughout the weekend with no unusual activity encountered. Areas patrolled included but were not limited to:

  • St. Monica’s Road, Pembroke
  • Court Street, Pembroke
  • Princess Street, Pembroke
  • Cedar Park Road, Devonshire
  • Green Acres Road, Devonshire
  • Pender Road, Sandys parish
  • South Road, Southampton
  • South Road, Paget
  • Jones Village Lane, Warwick
  • Bakery Lane, Pembroke
  • Friswells Road, Devonshire
  • Harrington Sound Road, Smith’s parish
  • My Lord’s Bay Road, Hamilton parish
  • Wellington Slip Road, St. George’s

In addition, during the weekend officers conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises around the island including in the City of Hamilton, without incident.
