Firearm, Drugs Seized & Man Arrested

Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro, Officer in Charge of the Serious Crime Unit - The Bermuda Police Service can confirm the arrest of a 28 year old male from Pembroke Parish for Firearms & Drugs offences.

Police firearms officers executed a search warrant at a Pembroke residence during the evening of Saturday 8th January, 2011. The investigation is being led by the Serious Crime & Drugs Units of the Bermuda Police Service.

During the course of the search, officers found quantities of suspected crack cocaine, cannabis, and a large quantity of cash. Also found during the course of the search was a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol.

The man arrested remains in Police custody while investigations continue, and a file is expected to be presented to the Director of Public Prosecutions in the very near future.

The seizure of this firearm marks the third firearm seized by Police since the last week of December 2010. It also marks and highlights the continuing determined efforts by our officers to make Bermuda safer by tackling gangs, guns & drugs.
