Students Arrested on School Bus

Around 8:20am on Tuesday, Police responded to a report of suspicious activity onboard a school bus. Whilst enroute to the school, the bus driver allegedly smelled marijuana and stopped the bus at the nearest Police premises. Police officers arrived on scene a short time later and were alerted to the suspected drug use. As a result, the officers searched the bus with the assistance of a Police K9 unit and a quantity of suspected controlled drug was seized. Three students were subsequently arrested; two on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug and one for using offensive words. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing. The Bermuda Police Service would like to commend the actions of the bus driver who proactively dealt with the situation, notifying Police at the earliest opportunity and driving the bus to a Police premises so that necessary action could be taken.
