Around 1:45am on Saturday, Police and first responders attended a reported serious road traffic collision on Harbour Road in Paget near the junction with Chapel Road involving a taxi and a motorcycle. It appears that the taxi was exiting Newstead hotel and the motorcycle was traveling along Harbour Road when the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 39 year old Sandys parish man, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance; however he subsequently succumbed to his injuries. The taxi driver was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact Inspector Phil Lewis on 295-0011. No further information will be released until the next of kin has been notified.

This marks the 11th road fatality for 2010.
