November 7 - Weekend Report

Robbery - Around 7:20pm on Saturday, Police responded to a report of a robbery on Par-La-Ville Road in Pembroke. It appears that four young women aged 15 – 16 years old were walking along Par-La-Ville Road near the junction with Rosebank Road when one of them was accosted by an unknown man brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. The suspect demanded the teenager’s BlackBerry cellular phone before fleeing the scene on foot with it heading toward Bermudiana Road. None of the teenagers were injured. The suspect is described as a light brown skinned man, approximately 5’9” tall of medium build wearing a black hooded top and a pair of khaki pants. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011 or the independent confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477.

Sudden Death

Around 12:15pm on Saturday, Police responded to a report of a sudden death at a Victoria Street, Pembroke residence. Officers and members of the public discovered the lifeless body of an individual inside the premises. It appears that the individual’s lifeless body had been at that location for some time. An on call physician attended the scene and certified death at 1:25pm. Foul play is not suspected; however inquiries are ongoing to positively identify the remains. Therefore no further information will be released at this time until the deceased’s identity is confirmed and the next of kin have been notified.

Injury RTC

Around 4am on Saturday, Police responded to a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Marsh Folly Road in Pembroke. Details about the collision are unclear at this time; however a motorcycle with extensive front end damage was found at the scene. There was no sign of the rider. Apparently a 26 year old Smith’s parish man believed to be the rider subsequently attended King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact PC Rawle Massiah on 295-0011.
