Assault

At 12:20am on Saturday, Police attended a reported assault on Front Street in the City of Hamilton in the vicinity of Fagans Alley. Officers observed the victim, a 20 year old Southampton man, being treated by paramedics at the scene. The officers later attended KEMH and spoke with the victim who stated that he was standing near Fagans Alley when he saw a male acquaintance involved in an altercation with two unknown men. The 20 year old intervened and a scuffle ensued with one of the unknown men. During the struggle, the second assailant approached the victim from behind and stabbed him twice in the head with a bladed article. Both suspects then made good their escape on foot towards King Street. The Southampton man was treated at KEMH for two lacerations to the head and released. The suspects are described as two black men, believed to be around 25 years old; one was light skinned, 5’10” tall of slim build with a close hair cut wearing a black ‘bubble’ jacket. The other was dark skinned of medium build with shoulder length braided hair wearing a black cap and a black jacket. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

At 1:10am on Friday, Police attended KEMH after a report of an assault. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 19 year old Hamilton parish woman, who stated that around 8:30pm on Thursday, she was riding her motorcycle east on Middle Road in Devonshire near Howard’s Mini Mart when she was approached by two unknown men on separate motorcycles who rode on either side of her. One of the men then rode in front of her, causing her to stop. A scuffle ensued with the two suspects, with one of them punching the victim in the face several times until she lost consciousness. She awoke approximately three hours later next to Howard’s Mini Mart with her cycle a short distance away. Nothing was taken from the Hamilton parish woman and she was not injured any further. She was treated at KEMH for bruising and swelling to her face and released. The suspects are described as two young black men, believed to be in their 20s, 5’8” – 5’10” tall wearing jackets and full face helmets. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Injury RTC

Around 3:15am on Saturday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Southampton, near the junction with Rose Hill Road. It appears that a car was traveling east on Middle Road when the driver, a 24 year old Southampton man, lost control attempting to negotiate a bend in the road and collided with a wooden guardrail. The Southampton man sustained a minor cut to the right side of his face. He was treated for his injury at KEMH and released; however, he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained after failing the alco-analyser test. The car was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
