The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

During the week of Monday, August 30th – Monday, September 6th 2010 there were:

  • Reported Injury Collisions = 18
  • Reported Damage Only Collisions = 43
  • Arrests on Suspicion of Impaired Driving = 6
  • Vehicles Reported Taken Without Their Owners’ Consent = 22
  • Number of vehicles reported stolen by parish: Pembroke = 9, Paget = 2, Warwick = 2 and Southampton = 9.

Most of the vehicles removed were either auxiliary cycles or motorcycles, with 1 car also reported stolen during the period. Of the 22 vehicles reported stolen, 2 were subsequently recovered, including the car.

Weekend Activity

Over the Labour Day holiday weekend there were 4 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 4 reported burglaries. There were also 19 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 9 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 13 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.

Search Continues for Calvin Hansey Sr.

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to appeal for the public’s assistance in locating 75 year old Calvin Hansey Sr. of Pembroke. Mr. Hansey has been missing for over a week now and is described as dark skinned, 5’9” tall of slim build and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue boxer shorts. Mr. Hansey is known to walk daily in the area of Montpelier Road, Middle Road and North Shore Road, Devonshire.

Anyone who may know the whereabouts of Mr. Calvin Hansey Sr. is urged to contact the Vulnerable Persons Unit on 295-0011 immediately.
