Witness Appeal: Confirmed Firearm Incident in Pembroke - Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the confirmed firearm incident that occurred around midnight on Saturday in the Middle Terrace, Pembroke area. In particular, detectives are interested in speaking with anyone who may have been in the Middle Terrace, Pembroke area between 11:45pm on Friday and 12:15am on Saturday and heard or saw anything suspicious. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011 or the independent confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477.

Injury RTC

At 9:55pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Morgan Road involving a car and an auxiliary cycle. It appears that both the car and the auxiliary cycle were traveling east on Middle Road, with the car in front of the auxiliary cycle. The vehicles collided as the car attempted to turn into Lindo’s Family Foods. The rider of the auxiliary cycle, a 17 year old Southampton man, sustained a serious injury and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. At last check he was in the Intensive Care Unit. The driver of the car, a 40 year old Sandys parish man, was not injured. The auxiliary cycle received front end damage while the car received damage to its right side. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact PC Lesa Stovell on 295-0011.

Around 9:30pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the junction with Loyal Hill Pass involving two motorcycles. It appears that the motorcycles were traveling in opposite directions on North Shore Road when they collided. The rider of the eastbound motorcycle, a 27 year old Smith’s parish woman, sustained a serious head injury as well as other injuries. The rider of the westbound motorcycle, a 37 year old Devonshire man, sustained facial injuries as well as abrasions to his arms and hands. Both victims were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. Both motorcycles were extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Around 11am on Saturday, Police received a report of a road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish in the vicinity of the Bermuda Aquarium Museum & Zoo involving three vehicles. It appears that the three vehicles (a truck, van and car) were traveling east on North Shore Road when the truck came to a stop. The van stopped behind the truck; however the car was unable to stop in time. As a result, all three vehicles collided. The driver of the truck, a 38 year old Pembroke man, was not injured. The driver of the van, a 70 year old St. George’s man and his passenger, a 62 year old St. George’s woman, apparently suffered chest pain and injuries to their legs. Both were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The van driver was later discharged. At last check the 62 year old St. George’s woman was still at the hospital; however, her injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The driver of the car, a 38 year old St. George’s woman, was also uninjured. The truck received relatively minor rear end damage; the van received extensive front and rear end damage while the car received extensive front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Damage Only RTC

At 12:40am on Saturday, Police received a report of a single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Church Road (in the vicinity of Five Star Island). It appears that a car was traveling west on Middle Road when the driver, believed to be a 34 year old Sandys parish man, lost control and went over an embankment. The driver of the car was apparently not injured; however the vehicle was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Search Continues for Calvin Hansey Sr.

Police continue to be concerned about the welfare and well being of 75 year old Calvin Hansey Sr. as he has been missing for over a week now. Despite systematic searches by officers and members of the public, to date he has not been located.

Mr. Hansey was last seen in the Happy Valley Road/Cherry Hill, Pembroke area around 6pm on Friday, August 27th 2010 and is described as dark skinned, 5’9” tall of slim build and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue boxer shorts. Mr. Hansey is known to walk daily in the area of Montpelier Road, Middle Road and North Shore Road, Devonshire. Anyone who may have any information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the Vulnerable Persons Unit on 295-0011 immediately.
