June 30 - Daily Report

Assault - Around 9:30am on Tuesday, Police received a report of an assault. It appears that the victim, a 38 year old Devonshire man, was assaulted with a pointed object in the Langton Hill/North Shore Road, Pembroke area by an individual apparently known to him. As a result the Devonshire man sustained a wound to his upper torso and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH) via ambulance for treatment. He was in the Intensive Care Unit in stable condition before being flown overseas today to University Hospital of the West Indies in Jamaica for further medical treatment. The suspect, a 43 year old St. George’s man, was also treated at KEMH for facial injuries. He was subsequently arrested in connection with the matter. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing and Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Injury RTC

At 6:40pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Lighthouse Road and Beaming Hill in Southampton involving a car and a pedal cycle. It appears that the car was traveling south on Lighthouse Road and the pedal cycle was traveling west on Beaming Hill when they collided at the junction. The pedal cycle rider, a 10 year old Southampton boy, sustained abrasions to his forehead. He was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and subsequently released. The driver of the car, a 71 year old Southampton woman, was not injured. The car received front end damage while the pedal cycle received moderate damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

The Bermuda Police Service will hold a press conference tomorrow (Thursday, July 1st) at 1pm in the Police Media Relations office, Police Headquarters, Prospect Devonshire regarding the appointment of a new Assistant Commissioner of Police.
