Theft

At 1:45am today, Police attended a reported theft from a Paget guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that an unknown person or persons had stolen two potted poinsettia plants from the premises. At 2am officers on mobile patrol in the City of Hamilton located the suspects, an 18 year old Warwick man and a woman, in a car traveling along Front Street. The vehicle was stopped and the driver and passenger (suspects) arrested on suspicion of theft, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

From the evening of Friday, December 22 to the morning of Wednesday, December 27, 2006 there were 8 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving (all men, ranging in age from 18 to 54 years old; none passed the alco-analyser test - 4 failed and 4 refused to take it) and 24 reported burglaries (16 in Pembroke, 3 in Sandy's parish, 1 in Southampton, 2 in Warwick, 1 in Devonshire and 1 in Hamilton parish). There were also 21 reported damage only road traffic collisions and 9 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury.

The Bermuda Police Service will be holding a press conference on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 11am in the PMR office regarding policing for the New Year's Eve festivities. All media are invited to attend.
