The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

During the week of Monday, May 10th – Monday, May 17th 2010 there were:

  • Reported Injury Collisions = 17
  • Reported Damage Only Collisions = 44
  • Arrests on Suspicion of Impaired Driving = 7
  • Vehicles Reported Taken Without Their Owners’ Consent = 9
  • Number of vehicles reported stolen by parish: St. George’s = 1, Smith‘s parish = 2, Pembroke = 5 and Warwick = 1.

All of the vehicles removed were either auxiliary cycles or motorcycles. Of the 9 vehicles reported stolen, 2 were subsequently recovered.

Vehicle Fire

Around 11:45pm on Monday, Police received a report of a vehicle fire on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with St. Mary’s Road. The car was found ablaze by a member of the public. Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel also attended the scene and extinguished the fire. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
