At 9pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported serious single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Crow Lane in Pembroke near the junction with Corkscrew Hill. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling east on Crow Lane (out of the City of Hamilton) when the rider, a 27 year old Pembroke man, lost control attempting to negotiate a right hand bend and collided with the traffic light pole on the left side of the road before colliding with a pillar of the nearby bus shelter. The Pembroke man was rushed to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of a serious injury to his left arm and facial abrasions. However, his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The motorcycle received extensive front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact PC David Ward at the Traffic Enforcement Unit on 299-4265 or the main Police number, 295-0011.

Fire

At 6:25pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported fire at the Horizons guest property on South Road in Paget. The Bermuda Fire Service (BFS) was already at the scene dealing with the blaze. On arrival officers observed that the upper level of the two storey staff accommodation was engulfed in flames. The fire was eventually extinguished by BFS personnel. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there was 1 person arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 8 reported burglaries (5 in Pembroke, 2 in St. George's and 1 in Hamilton parish). There were also 18 reported damage only road traffic collisions and 11 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
