Robbery - At 4:35am today, Police received a report of a robbery. The complainant, a taxi driver, stated that around 4:30am he was transporting three unknown men to the Cedar Park Road, Devonshire area. As the taxi neared the intended destination, one of the passengers demanded the taxi driver pull over. One of the men brandished a bladed article while another took a quantity of cash from the taxi driver before all three men made good their escape on foot. The taxi driver, a 55 year old Hamilton parish man, was not injured. The suspects are described as three dark skinned young men believed to be 18 – 20 years old, approximately 5’8” – 6’ tall wearing jeans, T-shirts and sweat tops. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Impaired Driving/Driving While Disqualified by Age

At 3:10am today, Police were on mobile patrol on South Road in Devonshire near the junction with Brighton Hill Road when they conducted a traffic stop on a car in the area. The driver, a 17 year old young man from Smith’s parish, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and driving while disqualified by age. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Injury RTC

At 11:55pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on South Road in Southampton near the junction with Eastdale Lane. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling east on South Road when the rider lost control and fell to the ground. A 27 year old Pembroke man, believed to be the rider at the time, was taken from the scene to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of facial injuries. The motorcycle received minor damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 7 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 2 reported burglaries. There were also 10 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 6 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 7 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
