Response to Collision at Somerset Bridge

Tue, 2010-02-23

The Bermuda Police Service would like to apologise to the motoring public that were inconvenienced due to the serious road traffic collision that occurred in the area of Somerset Bridge around 4:40pm Monday.

The traffic delay was the unfortunate result of a ‘perfect storm’ of circumstances – the timing of the collision coincided with the evening rush hour and the location of the collision near Somerset Bridge produced a bottleneck that could not be re-routed. The victim’s injuries were first reported as life threatening, and as such a full investigation was commenced that included a forensic examination of the scene.

The Police Service would like to assure the public that officers at the scene did everything they could to expedite the return of normal traffic flow in light of the difficult circumstances. However, we realise there was a significant delay for many motorists and we wish to express our appreciation for their patience and understanding.
