From the Government Department of Communication & Information (DCI) - The Bermuda Weather Service (BWS) is advising that the Island can expect to experience severe and unsettled weather conditions tomorrow (Saturday). 

According to the BWS it is anticipated that during the late afternoon hours of Saturday storm force winds are expected to be between 40-50 knots, with hurricane force gusts of up to 65 knots.

As is standard procedure, over the course of tomorrow, the Causeway Bridge will be closely monitored by the Bermuda Police Service and the Ministry of Works and Engineering. And should a decision be made to close the Causeway due to deteriorating weather conditions, the public will be notified in advance.

The Minister of Labour, Home Affairs and Housing, Sen. the Hon. Lt. Col. David Burch encouraged the public to take the necessary precautions in advance of tomorrow, such as securing all boats, as well as securing outdoor furniture, garbage bins and any other items that could be blown about by the wind.

Also in the interest of public safety the Minister Burch encouraged all motorists, particularly cyclists to use “extreme caution” when moving about the Island tomorrow.
