Injury RTC - Around 1:15am today, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Somerset Road in Sandys parish, near Caesar’s Pharmacy. Details about what occurred are unclear; however the victim, a 31 year old Sandys parish man, was found with facial injuries. A motorcycle was located nearby. The Sandys parish man was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.

Roads Policing Unit Statistics

The Roads Policing Unit were on patrol at various locations during last week (from Monday, October 26th to Sunday, November 1st) and issued around 100 tickets, where speeding offences accounted for the majority (over 70 tickets were issued for speeding). There were also five arrests made; one individual was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving while the rest were arrested for outstanding warrants. One of the individuals arrested for outstanding warrants was also in possession of a stolen motorcycle which was recovered.

The Roads Policing Unit also assisted with various community events during the week including the West Pembroke Primary School charity walk and patrolling the Bermuda Music Festival in Dockyard.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 6 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 4 reported burglaries. There were also 6 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 7 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 3 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
