Update: Assault at Berkeley Institute - The two 16 year old male students involved in an incident at The Berkeley Institute around 1:50pm Tuesday were treated at the hospital for their injuries, released and subsequently arrested; one for wounding and the other on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug. Both young men have been bailed pending further investigations. Inquiries into the matter are ongoing. Any witnesses or anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be given via the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477 or the Crime Stoppers Bermuda website at www.crimestoppers.bm.

Update – Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 42 year old Nestor Cayco of St. George’s. Mr. Cayco, a Filipino national, was found in an unresponsive state around 7:40am Tuesday at a Wellington Slip Road, St. George’s residence located at the St. George’s Boatyard and subsequently pronounced dead by an on call physician at the scene. Foul play is not suspected; however an autopsy is anticipated in due course. Inquiries are ongoing. The Bermuda Police Service extends sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.

Burglary

Around 12:45am today, Police received a report of a burglary at a Roberts Alley, Devonshire residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 10pm on Tuesday and 12:30am on Wednesday, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a black I-Pod Nano and a grey Sony laptop computer. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 2:35pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Mullet Bay Road, St. George’s residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 9:50am and 1:50pm that day, an unknown culprit or culprits gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit(s) stole a Dell laptop computer, a Samsung cellular phone, an I-Pod Nano, a silver watch, a BlackBerry cellular phone and a PlayStation Portable video game system with 6 games. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
