Damage Only RTC/Impaired Driving - Around 3:45am on Sunday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Church Road (in the area of 5 Star Island). It appears that a car was traveling west on Middle Road when the driver, a 41 year old Warwick man, lost control and collided with a utility pole causing the vehicle to overturn, ending up on its roof. The Warwick man was not injured; however, he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained after failing the alco-analyser test. The vehicle was extensively damaged.

Burglary

Around 7:15pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Railway Trail, Southampton residence. The complainant stated that sometime between midnight and 5pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash and a BlackBerry cellular phone. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 5:25pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a burglary at Ordnance Island in St. George’s. The complainant stated that sometime earlier an unknown culprit gained entry into a vessel in the area. The culprit stole a quantity of cash and two I-Pods; one black, the other white. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 12 noon on Sunday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Front Street, City of Hamilton business. The complainant stated that sometime between 11:30pm on Saturday and 11:50am on Sunday, an unknown culprit gained entry into the premises. The culprit stole a quantity of cash and a Canon digital camera. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 6 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 8 reported burglaries. There were also 13 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 7 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 2 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
